It has been non-stop around here… I think things are calming down? The dress marathon is over at the least! I had held off sewing my niece’s dress together because I wanted to do one final fitting… so there we were, on the morning of the party with a bodice, a skirt and a zipper in separate pieces.. It didn’t feel like like TOO much work, and I was feeling pretty confident until my mom and my baker kept commenting on how much work it looked like was left… And then it started to feel pretty stressful. But I managed to get it finished, 30 minutes before the party! (Eek). After the drive down, a poor nights sleep and a frenzied several hours sewing, I was pretty exhausted. Not that it was anything a piña colada and a few delicious empanadas couldn’t fix.
And, finally the dress! …And the fabric that almost never arrived. And the birthday girl, looking lovely (if somewhat unamused by the conversation at hand…)
I also made a little matching dress for the doll she passed on to a younger cousin…. I thought this came out pretty cute (I was a little worried about this one fitting too, having never seen the doll and taking measurements over the phone).
A fun night all around (full of delicious food and drinks), and well worth the frenzy.
