Spent a couple days out of the studio, and stumbled on this project while trying to find the Farmer’s Market in Bath. A fun group of folks in a long-term project, working to reconstruct The Virginia; the first ship built in North America by the Popham colonists at Fort St George in 1607-1608 (13 years before the Pilgrims). They were enthusiastic and eager to share. Having been a furniture design major, I’ve been missing working with wood, and the smell of fresh cut white oak, and the huge beams of wood every where only reinforced that.
It’s an ambitious project, especially since they don’t have any blueprints to work with, just mathematical formulas. I’ll be eager to pop in again and see their progress.
