I have to admit I’ve been pretty intimidated by quilting. I’ve been curious to try it, but I know that following a pattern and directions, cutting out this many 5” squares, this many right triangles… doesn’t work for me. I’ve been putting aside scrap fabric to give it a go, but also haven’t felt terribly inspired with the fabric on hand. Until I started thinking about my own Birch Tree fabric. And then I got really excited. I picked out the fabrics and got to cutting, adding to it in an organic way as I went, no directions and no plan. There were points I didn’t see it working out, but in less than I day I got the whole quilt top finished (for a baby’s quilt). Last minut I switched the far left panel all the way to the left edge of the quilt… and I’m pretty excited about it.
