My Swedish pride was running high today. I’ve been trying to find a reason to get this Crown pattern from Michael Miller for a while now… and today I decided just to make myself a simple little pillow. Or two. I can’t decide yet between the two blues to back it. The pale blue is a nice linen and lends itself to a more vintage feel. But the dark teal is a color my grandmother always wore, so would perhaps have more sentimental meaning. I’ve been looking for a reason to get that fabric too, in Kona cotton. I don’t know yet if the yellow (more mustard than it appears here) will find its way into the pillow, doubtful… but they all looked so good (and Swedish) together.
This was the real splurge though. I don’t know what it is about this color that grabs me; apricot… almost salmon pink, it’s not one I typically gravitate towards. I’ve been eyeing it for a while and saw it was nearing the end of the bolt (only 3.5 yards left)… So I scooped it up. A Kaffe Fasset Shot Cotton, it has a nice sheen to it (due to the different colored threads in the warp and the weft) and a beautiful drape. I plan on making a dress with it, but I find it a little worrisome taking on a big personal project when I still haven’t lined my blazer from class (I KNEW I wouldn’t finish it in a timely fashion if I didn’t get it done by the end of the class). But here’s hoping. The pillows will be no problem. I have to pick a dress pattern soon to keep up steam with the dress, though!
…Speaking of dresses, we start work on Jennah’s wedding dress next week! Just the muslin for now, but hopefully we’ll have something to show for it!
