"Welcome to Mackworth Island Community Village
You may build houses small and hidden for the fairies, but please do not use living or artificial materials.
The best materials are found in the landscape of the village itself, but if you chose to bring in natural materials, please return those that you didn’t use.
Thank you for treating the island with care and respect. This helps keep the fairies coming back.”
This reminded me a lot of exploring the forest as a child in Sweden. My mom and I would build little fairy houses, steer clear of the trolls living under boulders and uprooted trees, and making little rafts for pinecone people and their pinecone cattle… but never have I seen a fairy village like this. It was more like a metropolis, spanning further than we could see. It was pretty neat.
And in contrast to the very small structures for the fairies… there were some pretty impressive, massive trees (both fallen, and standing). This tree would make for a lot of beautiful furniture.
