While we didn’t get the anticipated thunderstorm last night, we did have something of a freak storm. No thunder or lightning, or even rain… unless you count the mist spraying in the windows. There was quite a blustery wind blowing, and the sky was pretty dramatic. But all in all, I think the whole thing lasted under 30 minutes. When I noticed the sky out my studio window, I went to look out at the observatory, but the sky on this side was quite dull. It wasn’t until I snapped a photo anyway that I caught a glimpse of the rainbow just a minute or two before it disappeared.
The eery yellow sky cast quite a strange light in the apartment. If you look at the trees you’ll notice some blur in the leaves from the gale blowing through them.
Some dramatic spotlight action, and below, you can get more of a sense of the wind, with all the tree branches bowing in different directions.
While this photo is quite calm, I was trying to get a shot of the line of papers I have clothes-pinned along the wall thrashing around violently. Luckily, everything seems to still be in place!
