strings too short to keep.

Annika Schmidt

It has happened. A reason has come along to keep the threads even I discard. Tailor’s tacks. I hadn’t used this technique for transferring pattern marks onto the fashion fabric before. Luckily, I knew exactly where I’ve been stowing thread ends that, to me, were too long to discard, and would make perfect for the task. It reminded me of a sewing group I attended a couple years back. ┬áMy friend’s mother who had taught apparel for many years lead this group, looking mainly at 50s dress patterns. She mentioned coming across a box in her grandmother’s attic labeled, “Threads too short to keep”, containing just that. I will be that woman. (In fact, I think I already am, I just need to label my box).
