Looking back at our weekend of sewing (day 4 of 5): Here we are just starting out Saturday morning, with the bodice attached to it’s lining, and (separate) the skirt gathered… we sure got a lot done. Julia’s brother was kind enough to let us spread out (and take over) his loft. To Julia’s left you can see the imitation horse hair we inserted into the skirt hem to give it a little more shape and weight. We had to take the bodice in a bit before inserting the steel boning and attaching the skirt.
(I think Jennah is about as cooperative as brides come, fitting us in between clinics and other nursing school ‘homework’. And enduring pin pricks while we assured her there were no pins poking her… oh wait.)
Trying out different options for the final design decision: strap placement. We all agreed on a simple halter in the end.
Giving the skirt a test twirl before we adjusted the bodice.
Working late into the night.
