How Our Products Are Made

HOW OUR PRODUCTS ARE MADE:

TEXTILES

kantarellfabric.jpg

Once printed, all of our fabric items (except the shower curtains*) are cut and sewn here in the studio.

We outsource the printing of our fabrics to a domestic fabric print company in the USA. Digital printing is an environmentally friendly process, using Eco-friendly, water-based inks on natural fabrics. The fabrics have not been treated with fire retardant chemicals, and are tested to ensure that they contain none of the substances prohibited by the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act and are therefore safe for infant use.

The majority of our textile designs are printed on a crisp white linen/cotton blend (55%linen, 45%cotton). Our baby items are printed on GOTS Certified Organic cotton jersey, a fabric that is not only printed, but produced (knit) in the USA using Indian yarn.

(*This excludes our shower curtains, which are sewn in China, and printed in Kentucky, USA).

GLASS & CERAMICS

MugPrinting.jpg

Our ceramic mugs are MADE IN THE USA, and printed to order here in the studio with our little mug press (pictured above).

All other ceramic and glass items are printed locally, here in Southern Maine. The 'blanks' (tiles, etc) are produced in the USA, Mexico, and China. We understand this is a concern for many, and while we would prefer to source exclusively from US companies, that is not always an option. If you require further details, please do not hesitate to contact us.

CARING FOR YOUR LILLEPUTT PRODUCTS

CARE INSTRUCTIONS (TEXTILES, Excluding Shower Curtains)

For our linen and cotton textile products, we recommend washing with a phosphate free detergent in cool or warm water using a gentle or delicate machine cycle.

As digital printing is an environmentally friendly process, using less ink, (and in the absence of fixing chemicals) some fading occurs with washing. This is more apparent with darker shades. Front loading washers contribute to color loss due to the increased tumbling action during cleaning. Fading can be minimized through use of cool wash settings and gentle wash cycles.

Tumble dry on a low temperature or permanent press setting. Remove promptly. Iron with steam to press out wrinkles (when possible, iron on the non-printed side).

Care instructions are also included on product labels, and in the individual item listing.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS (SHOWER CURTAINS)

Machine wash separately. Cold, gentle cycle. Tumble dry low. Cool iron (polyester setting). Do NOT bleach, do NOT dry clean.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS (GLASS AND CERAMICS)

While our mugs are dishwasher safe, we recommend hand-washing them to longer preserve the colors and prevent scratching and scuffing against other items during the wash cycle.

ALL OTHER CERAMICS (AND GLASS CHEESEBOARDS) are HAND-WASH ONLY. Do not submerge tile trivets or coasters; as they are unfinished on one side, over-saturation can cause cracking.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS (WALLPAPER)

Gently wipe down with a damp cloth. The use of cleaner or heavy rubbing can cause color to lift.
